Human Outreach Project	Human Outreach Project Human Outreach Project (HOP) is a 501 c3 non-profit charitable organization conceived out of the idea that climbers and trekkers could – and should - give back to communities surrounding expedition sites. HOP strives to reach communities in remote areas in Africa, Asia, and South America. Climbers taking part in guided expeditions with World Wide Trekking (WWT) access these regions as part of their trip. The durable partnerships established with communities have as their defining characteristics, a long-term commitment, needs identified by the local people, and a collaborative effort to contribute to sustainable solutions. In its early years HOP focused on the provision of basic medical, dental, and education supplies to impoverished communities – in particular orphans - in Nepal, Tanzania and Peru. Working with local community leaders, HOP has evolved into an organization with a special commitment to the health, educational, and developmental needs of children living in orphanages adjacent to expedition sites.  In 2010 HOP formed a sister organization in Africa, Human Outreach Project – Tanzania, recognized by the Tanzanian government as a non-profit. Through the generous donations of our supporters HOP – Tanzania was able to purchase 4 acres of land to build a new orphanage on. Ground was broken on the first of several buildings during our 2010 Student Leadership program. We are in the final stages of government approval to allow the first children to move into the facilities. Read about the Kilimanjaro Kids Community orphanage we have built.
