We have
undertaken an ambitious project to construct an orphanage on a recently
purchased 4‐acre parcel in Moshi,
Tanzania at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. This is the result of several
years of planning and building relationships with the community of Moshi. In
May 2010, we reached a major milestone in this effort when the Tanzanian
government formalized a constitution for HOP, thus recognizing HOP‐Tanzania as a local non‐profit organization overseen by a local
governing Board. Since then, we have finalized plans for the orphanage and
begun construction on a site which will have girls and boys dormitories for
up to 50 children, as well as kitchen and dining facilities, classrooms,
staff buildings, and facilities for livestock and farming so that it can be a
self‐sufficient
operation.
