Human Outreach Project	HOP Leadership Week 1 Students will spend 7 days climbing the Machame route on Kilimanjaro, 19,340’, accompanied by a professional and experienced local African staff led by Dean Cardinale and World Wide Trekking. While climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, we will work together on individual leadership skills and collective team responsibility. Both the individual challenge of climbing the highest point on the African continent, and the collective challenge of how to best improve the health and education in a poor community are characterized by complexity, uncertainty, competing priorities and inevitable constraints; both require decision making in the setting of imperfect information. Participants will experientially learn about the fundamentals of goal setting, strategic planning, assessing risk, and responsible decision making.
